Labiaplasty is the most common genital cosmetic procedure in the world. They aim to recover your vagina’s inner lips if they’ve lost their shape, form, or even symmetry, or have become dark in color around the edges. Beyond that, they can also correct chronic vaginal discharge, make sex less painful, and allow you to comfortably wear g-strings, bikinis, and tights.

Labiaplasty come in three main forms:  barbieplasty, wedge, and trim techniques. Your doctor will help you decide which surgery is right for you. Barbieplasty removes most of your vagina’s  inner lips – leaving just a trace amount behind. Wedge technique involves cutting a triangular wedge out of your inner lips and then reshaping them. Trim technique – as the name suggests – involves shaving and removing a small amount of tissue of your inner lips.

Since all three procedures use either radiofrequency or laser, your wounds will heal much faster. The sutures dissolve within 25 days on their own. Scarring tends to subside anywhere between one and three months after surgery depending on the sutures and techniques used. No one will be able to tell that you’ve even had surgery.

Surgery generally takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour, and can be done either under local or general anesthesia. You may be discharged immediately on the same day. You’ll be able to return to your normal routine two days and go back to work five days later.
